Metallica Teams Up With Epic Games To Join Fortnite As ‘Icons’ For Season 4 Festival

Metallica has been announced as the “icon” of Epic Games’ Fortnite Festival Season 4.

The Metallica Season in Festival begins on June 13, Epic Games said on Wednesday (June 12).

Fans of both Fortnite and Metallica can look forward to new playable Jam Tracks with “more Metallica songs,” Epic Games hinted. They can also enter the Season 4 Festival Pass for special prizes, which may include clothing and makeup inspired by Metallica band members – James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo.

Epic Games is once again teasing a new PvP Battle Stage.

Fans can expect a Metallica musical experience on June 22 and June 23, with six one-hour shows scheduled over two days. Additionally, Metallica-themed gameplay extends beyond Fortnite Festival to Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket League and Racing.

Details on the format of the concert and the set list are under wraps, but fans can expect a fiery stage, as noted by Fortnite in a recent post on X.

This isn’t the first time Fortnite has brought music icons to an in-game experience. Previous seasons of the Festival have seen collaborations with the same artists I It’s the weekend, Lady Gagaagain Billie Eilish. The inclusion of Metallica will bring a heavy sound and may attract a new wave of players to the game.

Fortnite, the war royale phenomenon, has become more than just a game. It has become a platform for the music industry. In April, Karta, a metaverse studio that offers in-game marketing, said that its Fortnite game called Beat Builder achieved a milestone of 100,000 players. Karta launched his Fortnite studio in August 2023.

Separately, Sony Music in January unveiled what it described as “the next generation of immersive music” for Fortnite to help artists “expand their engagement with fans on gaming platforms and other entertainment platforms using game engine design and visual production technologies.”

Other artists featured in Fortnite include Bruno Mars again Anderson .Paak through the relationship between Fortnite and Atlantic Records; British alt pop band simple life; DJ star Marshmello; and K-pop stars BTSpremiered the video for their single Dynamite inside Fortnite at Party Royale’s Main Stage in 2020.
