Tsitsipas, Ruud, Shelton sign for doubles career at Wimbledon

Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Ben Shelton lead a strong group of singles players registered for doubles at this year’s Wimbledon.

World No. 4 Daniil Medvedev has also entered but is two times away from being cut from the list of hosts along with Brazil’s Marcelo Demoliner. Andy Murray and Jamie Murray are tied for eighth in the rankings but could be in with a strong chance of a surprise wildcard if the two-time Wimbledon champion declares himself fit to play after surgery on Saturday.

Tsitsipas will meet his brother Petros Tsitsipas in the second match in a row. At Roland Garros, the brothers knocked out fourth seeds Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek on their way to the quarter-finals, where they were stopped by eventual champions Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic.

Ruud, who is No. 8 in the PIF ATP Rankings, will partner American William Blumberg. World No. 14 Shelton will partner with Mackenzie McDonald. Other singles players in the Top 20 in doubles are Ugo Humbert (w/ Arthur Fils), Alexander Bublik (w/ Alexander Shevchenko), Sebastian Baez (w/ Dustin Brown).

Marcelo Granollers and Horacio Zeballos lead the list of admissions along with Australian Open champion Matthew Ebden, two-time Wimbledon champion, and Rohan Bopanna.
