Pariaman City Offers Free Admission to Gandoriah Beach during Tabuik Festival 2024

In an effort to promote tourism and culture, the City Government of Pariaman, West Sumatra, is offering free admission to Gandoriah Beach during the peak of the Tabuik Piaman Cultural Festival 2024, which will culminate on Sunday (21/7).

Promotion of Local Tourism

The decision to waive the entrance fee to the tourist attraction is part of a larger initiative to attract more visitors and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region. According to Ferialdi, the Acting Head of the Department of Tourism and Culture of Pariaman, this move was also requested by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, as the Tabuik festivities are now part of the Kharisma Event Nusantara series.

By allowing free access to Gandoriah Beach from morning until night, the local government hopes to encourage more people to participate in the festivities and experience the beauty of the region.

Although the decision to forgo entrance fees will impact the local government’s revenue, it is believed that the influx of visitors during the Tabuik festival will have a positive impact on the local economy. The festival, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, provides opportunities for local businesses and vendors to thrive.

The Tabuik Piaman festival is a longstanding tradition in Pariaman, with this year’s festivities scheduled to take place from July 7th to July 21st. The 15-day event will not only feature the iconic Tabuik ritual but also various cultural activities and performances that celebrate the heritage of Pariaman.

Through events like the Tabuik Piaman festival, the city of Pariaman aims to showcase its unique cultural identity and attract visitors from across the region and beyond.
