Alcaraz and Nadal Make Double Summer Olympics

A dream team of great achievements is set to bring Spain Olympic glory at the Summer Olympics 2024 in Paris.

Carlos Alcaraz again Rafael Nadal they will play twice together at the Olympics, the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation said on Wednesday.

With this year’s tennis tournament to be played at Roland Garros, it could mean more success for both champions. Alcaraz just won the men’s title for the first time in five sets Alexander Zverev. Nadal holds 14 Roland Garros singles titles, the most of any man or woman. Together, they hold a total of 25 major song titles.

Nadal is the owner of two Olympic gold medals. One from the 2008 Beijing Games in singles, her second doubles gold with a partner Marc Lopez At the 2016 Rio Games. The 21-year-old Alcaraz will compete in the Paris Olympics for the first time in his career.

National team coach David Ferrer announced that Nadal will participate in the Olympics. The decision was up in the air after Nadal, 38, lost in the opening round of this year’s Roland Garros to Zverev in the final.

“One pair, which I think everyone knows and was hoping for, is Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal and the second is yet to be decided, it was not 100% confirmed,” Ferrer told reporters. “We will wait a bit before announcing that. But Rafa and Carlos will be playing together in Paris.”

Additional players selected for the Spanish men’s team were Pablo Carreno Busta and ALejandro Davidovich Fokina. Marcel Granollerscurrently ranked second in the world in doubles, is in the group.

Alcaraz, who said at the beginning of the year that his main goal this season is to get a gold medal at the Olympics, said that it would be a dream to play with Nadal in Paris.

Nadal lives up to that sentiment, especially since this will be his final appearance at the Olympics. “Carlos, there is no need for him to ask me anything, everything is going well, we will play [Olympic doubles],” Nadal told Iguales, the official Mutua Madrid Open podcast. “It’s also very exciting for me. If I’m not mistaken, I heard that from him too.”

The Summer Games will be held from July 26 to August 11.
