Downtown presents Curve Royalty Services for the royalty outsourcing process

Labels, publishers and distributors will be able to outsource some or all of their revenue processing duties as Downtown Music’s newly formed Royalties & Financial Services division announced the launch of Curve Royalty Services on Thursday (June 27).

The move follows Downtown’s acquisition of a royalty processing platform Curve Royalty Systems January 2023 and the launch of the Downtown section, Downtown Royalties & Financial Services, last month. Downtown Royalties is led by Tom Allenfounder of Curve.

The division focuses on three key areas: royal estate processing sponsored by Curve, royal accounting services, and payments.

Curve Royalty Services expands existing offerings to Curve’s global clients. Customers can use the company’s technology for accurate reporting on artists and songwriters, Downtown said in a statement released Thursday (June 27).

The service is designed to be flexible, allowing clients to choose the level of outsourcing they need. The platform will assist clients who may need assistance with onboarding the Curve platform, specific royalty processes, or full accounting responsibilities. The service has already started its first rollout.

Downtown Music has undergone a transformation in recent years, moving from a copyright holder to a service provider for copyright holders. Earlier this month, Downtown partnered with it SymphonyOS offering AI-powered marketing tools at a discount to simplify artists’ marketing efforts. In September 2022, Downtown established a division to manage its global services for artists and songwriters.
