Ethereum Founder Releases Game-Changing Feature To Speed Up ETH Transactions

A huge expansion of the Ethereum network is expected as project founder and crypto enthusiast Vitalik Buterin has it. revealed a new feature of the Ethereum blockchain that promises to speed up transaction confirmation times significantly. The new Single Slot Finality (SSF) feature has the potential to make Ethereum transactions much faster, by reversing the process of building consensus on the network.

Ethereum Network Transactions See Massive Development

As Ethereum continues to evolve, Vitalik ButerinThe announcement underscores ongoing efforts to address issues with efficiency and scale-up. Single Slot Finality’s (SSF) debut is an important step towards improving the network’s ability to process more transactions quickly and securely.

Buterin revealed the latest new solution in a blog post titled “Epochs and slots all the way down: ways to give Ethereum users faster transaction confirmation times.”

Currently, EthereumGasper’s consensus uses a slot and epoch architecture. With this system, a subset of validators can broadcast a vote to the thread head every 12 seconds, and all validators have 32 slots (6.4 minutes) to vote. After two periods (12.8 min), these votes are reinterpreted as messages in a PBFT-like consensus and provide a strong economic guarantee known as conclusion.

Due to the existing removed process, users have grown uncomfortable with it over the past few years. This is because the slot-by-slot voting method and the final epoch-by-epoch method are complex and prone to communication errors and 12.8 minutes is too long, as no one is interested in waiting that long.

However, with the introduction of Single Slot Finality, all this is about to change, as SSF will remove this method through a process similar to Tendermint consensus where block N is finalized before block N + 1 is created. The main difference with Tendermint is that users can maintain an “inactivity leak” mechanism, which keeps the chain alive and helps it recover in the event that more than one-third of validators are offline.

Although the new feature promises a faster transaction time of The Ethereum network, there are also challenges it may face. Unknowingly using this step would suggest that all Ethereum stakers would have to send two messages every 12 seconds, which would likely put a huge burden on the chain.

Two Different Authentication System

According to the blog post, the SSF feature boasts of two different modes including Rollup authentication and pre-based authentication.

Rollup guarantees create a divide of concern within the Ethereum ecosystem. As a result, ETH layer 1 solutions will focus on non-blocking research, reliability, stability, and maintaining and improving some important core functionality, while layer 2 will focus on interacting with users directly by making different technical and cultural compromises.

Meanwhile, the Pre-Based Authentication strategy takes that into account ETH proposers can develop into highly skilled players for MEV-related purposes. By providing incentives to these experienced proposers to take on the task of providing assurance-as-a-service, this approach is widely used in this technology.
