Introducing Satoshi Summer Camp: A Bitcoin Adventure for Families
Against the backdrop of the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee, the Satoshi Summer Camp is set to be a highlight for families attending the event. The two-day fair promises to combine fun, education, and community building like never before.
At the heart of Satoshi Summer Camp is the Family Fun Zone, an activity center where children and families can engage in a variety of enriching experiences. From instructor-led crafts to kid-approved meals, and even an indoor play area, there’s something for every member of the family to enjoy. Parents can relax and connect with other families while their kids have a blast in the bounce house or activity stations.
For older children, ages 6-12, the Bitcoin STEM Camp, in collaboration with BSTEM, offers a learning journey into the world of Bitcoin technology. Parents can leave their older children for two days of learning, led by experienced teachers. Kids will delve into topics like 3D printing, cryptology, setting up nodes, and even designing games in Minecraft. It is an opportunity for young Bitcoin enthusiasts to deepen their understanding of the digital currency in a fun and engaging way.
As the world of Bitcoin continues to grow, one set of parents is pioneering a unique way to introduce Bitcoin to the next generation. Emily and David Bailey, inspired by their journey to Bitcoin, welcomed their first child at the start of their now world-famous conference, Bitcoin 2019, in San Francisco, CA. Two years later, their conference had grown significantly, and after seeing half pipes and an expanded art gallery in Miami for Bitcoin 2021, the Baileys envisioned a space where families could come together to explore, learn, and play in the exciting world of Bitcoin. And thus this year, Satoshi Summer Camp was born.
“We wanted to create an experience that not only taught kids about Bitcoin but also fostered a sense of community among families,” said Emily Bailey. “Bitcoin is more than just a financial tool; it’s a culture, and we want to make sure that everyone, including children, feels included and excited about its potential.”
Satoshi Summer Camp space is limited, and families are encouraged to reserve their spots early to avoid missing out on this special opportunity. There are two types of passes, one for the entertainment zone – aimed at 5 and under – and the other covering BSTEM for children aged 6-12.
Founded by longtime Bitcoin advocate Zach Shelton and based in Virginia, BSTEM specializes in offering engaging STEM programs specifically designed for young Bitcoin enthusiasts. With a team of experienced instructors and a focus on hands-on learning, BSTEM is the perfect partner for Satoshi Summer Camp’s educational efforts.
In its effort to provide a memorable experience for families, Satoshi Summer Camp and BSTEM partnered with a number of other Bitcoin businesses to create a comprehensive and comprehensive children’s platform. Satoshi Summer Camp is excited to announce the Tuttle Twins as a sponsor and partner with kid-approved cartoons and books for campers to enjoy. Arts and crafts will include a Lightning-based piggy bank for kids, courtesy of Lightning Piggy, and a Bitcoin monster design with Spiral’s Here Comes Bitcoin. Players will also learn about new games from SHAmory and FreeMarketKids. Parents can join in the fun and meet artists, writers, and creators who support Bitcoin families.
“Bitcoin is not just an ideology. The culture is fascinating. We need to remember that these are children, and what it means to be a bitcoiner will certainly change in the next ten years as our children become adults,” explained Bailey. “Our goal is to make it fun for kids.”
Visitors and their families will be able to explore the Expo Hall on a guided “tour”. Destinations include a Mining Village, an Art Gallery, and the opportunity to participate in a collaborative painting by Marco Santini.
Camp begins on Friday, July 26 and continues on Saturday, July 27. The Family Fun Zone welcomes families for a day of play and organized activities, designed to come and go as they please. The Bitcoin STEM program starts at 9 AM each day and ends at 4:30 PM. Lunch and snacks will be provided for all campers, both days. On Industry Day, July 25, there will be a soft opening where the playground is open for free play from 8 AM to 5 PM.
As the Bitcoin 2024 conference approaches, anticipation for the Satoshi Summer Camp is growing. Families from around the world are gearing up for a weekend of fun, learning, and community building in Music City, where the spirit of Bitcoin will be alive and thriving.
