New World Diary No. 1: Jannik Sinner returns home
There is no place like home. That showed when Jannik Sinner returned to his hometown of Sexten in the Dolomites last week to celebrate his rise to the top of the PIF ATP Rankings.
“When you think he’s coming from here, a tennis player, it’s pretty amazing,” Sinner said in an exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary of the Italian World No. 1’s first tour. 1.
The 22-year-old gave the film crew unprecedented access to his entire journey. The culprit gave fans a glimpse into his life growing up in the mountains. The special feature helps tell the story of how Sinner went from a kid in a small town known for skiing to the best tennis player in the world.
“I have my house here, and here is another house as well [my] my grandparents also always cooked for me and after that, I put on skis because I went skiing immediately from Monday to Thursday, then twice a week I played tennis and that was it,” said Sinner. “You got it on camera!”
[ATP APP]The Italian added: “We were playing football and hanging out with friends and no one had a phone. We only had a clock and the parents said, ‘Look, you have to be home at five’. And sometimes it was 5:15 and the parents got a little p****da!”
