Sony Music teams up with India’s Maddock Films to produce hit singles, pop singles

The Indian music market is one of the fastest growing in the world, and Sony Music Group has not been remiss in capitalizing on that growth.

In what is just the latest in a series of recent partnerships, Sony Music Entertainment (SME) India partnered with a Mumbai-based film production company and web series Maddock’s films producing music projects including film songs and indie pop songs.

Supporting the new collaboration will be the soundtrack of the upcoming Hindi film Chhavastarring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna and featuring music by AR Rahman.

Sony and Maddock also announced plans for drama songs Dealer featuring Ibrahim Ali Khan, and Ikkis starring Agastya Nanda with music by Sachin-Jigar.

The collaboration will also work on the songs of Luka Chhupi 2, Sector 36 starring Vikrant Massey, Sarvagunn Sampan and Vaani Kapoor, as well Rumi Ki Sharafatstarring Radhika Madan.

Sony’s expansion into the Indian music market comes amid a phenomenal growth in music consumption in India, and the consumption of Indian music worldwide.

According to the latest IFPI annual report, India recorded 15.3% music revenue growth in 2023, making it the 14th largest market in the world.

In a report earlier this year, Spotify he said that the use of Indian music in his field has increased by 2,000% between 2018 and 2023.
