TPG buys stake in Untitled Entertainment from Boat Rocker as it launches new talent management firm

Global alternative asset management company TPG has announced the creation of a new company focused on talent management, representation, and related businesses.

The new entity will “acquire, invest in, and build a diversified global business focused on talent management, representation, and adjacent verticals,” TPG said on Friday (June 28).

The new business will make its first investment It has no title Entertainment, a Hollywood talent management company with a 25-year track record, specializing in all areas of the industry including film, TV, theater, fashion, digital media, and music. Untitled is currently majority owned by Boat Rocker Media.

According to news reports, TPG is paying CAD $51.6 million ($37.6 million) of Boat Rocker’s stake in Untitled, and 8.8% of the common stock in the new company.

TPG named it Michel Pratteformer President of Boat Rocker Media, to lead a newly established company, aside Eric Taitzformer EVP of Business Development and Strategy at Boat Rocker, who will serve as Chief Operating Officer.

TPG has a history of investing in the leisure industry, holdings in companies such as Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Spotify, Musixmatch, Fandom, and more. The new venture reflects TPG’s growing interest in the talent management sector.

Following an investment in Untitled Entertainment, Founding Partners, Jason Weinberg again Stephanie Simon, will each invest a “significant financial interest” in the new venture alongside Boat Rocker, Untitled’s current majority owner. Weinberg and Simon will remain Co-CEOs and non-title managing partners.

“This new company will empower Untitled and its future group of talent-focused businesses to leverage the unique talents of diverse clients on their journey to achieve their highest career aspirations,” added Pratte.
