When will Fortnite OG return to the game? We now know when Fortnite OG is coming back.
Fortnite OG is far and away one of the most popular moments in the history of the game. During the OG era, we saw the number of players rise to new heights, breaking records for four chapters in the game. But it passed after just a month.
Players have been wondering about the return of Fortnite OG for quite some time now. But when is Fortnite OG coming back? The game mode is in the current editions of 2024.
It won’t be quite the OG that players remember. However, Epic seems committed to these moments of nostalgia. They are doubling this year. OG Fortnite 2024 will return to another time in Epic’s past.
When will Fortnite OG return in 2024?
Fortnite OG is coming back, Epic has yet to confirm an official date for the mode to return but thanks to the leak we have a good deal. We can narrow down the release date very well.
This year’s Fortnite OG return will be a little behind Chapter 5 Season 4. We know this thanks to Epic’s Fortnite roadmap that has been leaking for a year. This means we have C5 S3 to go through, and then we get another season of Chapter 5.
Once this is over, we’ll be taken back to Chapter 2! With the current end of season dates, we expect this to be in November as well. Like last year, it should take over for the full four months between Chapter 4 and Chapter 5.
The return of the OG will last a month again. However, just like last time, we will be running four different seasons so that we can effectively have a different game from week to week. It’s not Chapter 1 coming back this time though.
Fortnite OG Returns as Chapter 2
Fortnite OG may be making a comeback, but it’s not the most OG of OG Chapters this time around. We actually get Fortnite Chapter 2.
This is very different, Chapter 2 is where the game went from the original version to the more polished version we have today. In C2 we had cars, fishing, legends, bosses, the game was completely done.
Chapter 2 still holds many complaints though. Some of its Seasons are still the longest running we’ve ever had. The weapons are far from the current collection of Fortnite Chapter 5 weapons as well. As Fortnite OG returns, it will play very differently.
OG Chapter 2 will not stop again. The plan is for the game to revisit some of the biggest moments of this era of the title. Back in Chapter 2, each season had many twists and turns. We got an entire map flooded, the game became an RPG for three weeks, and an alien invasion.

OG Fortnite 2024 Schedule
The next batch of Fortnite OG will return when we arrive in November, but there are four different seasons to cover during its run.
We start with the first season of Chapter 2. For many, this is defined by exploring a new map and the biggest expansion of gameplay we’ve seen. However, the balance of the weapons and the raw form of the map will also be interesting.
The next season was when bosses and Mythics took over half of the map. This was the longest season in Fortnite history. It’s definitely one we’re all very familiar with, so it might be fun to play it again.
After that, we get the flood season, followed by the Marvel Nexus War season. Each of these will last a week when Fortnite OG returns. This is the hardest plan we know of so far:
- November Week 1 – Chapter 2 Season 1
- November Week 2 – Chapter 2 Season 2
- November Week 3 – Chapter 2 Season 3
- November Week 4 – Chapter 4 Season 4
After this, we will move on to Chapter 6! We definitely go through Chapters very quickly these days. It will be a surprise when Epic starts planning Chapter 3 OG, just 12 seasons after leaving the game in the first place.
OG Fortnite 2024 is Chapter 2 anyway. This is still far enough to bring back expired players. Although, nothing caught the fancy of Chapter 1. Will we ever get that OG version back or is it now lost?
Is OG Fortnite Coming Back in 2024?
That’s the change for Chapter 2, but what about Chapter 1? The early days of Fortnite still hold a lot of nostalgia? That is not coming back this year. However, we have a version of it somehow, or Fortnite OG goes back to Chapter 1.
With the launch of Fortnite Reload, we have chapter 1 remixed in some ways. Reload map POIs from Chapter 1 reworked. Most of the loot pool from Chapter 1 is in Fortnite Reload weapons, so we have the OG form back.
We may not be getting Chapter 1, but the OG is coming back in one form. It will still be fun to revisit the Chapter 2 map and its unique weapons. We don’t have long to wait either!
